What information do we collect about you?

You can access most pages on this website without providing your personal information however, any provision of your personal data to us is voluntary.  This information may include:  Your name, postal address, golf club name, email address, telephone number, gender, age and details of any and communication preferences or transactions you carry out through our site.  By submitting your personal information, you consent to our use of the information as set out in this privacy notice. By doing so, you are also giving us permission to enter your details into our systems on your behalf. 

 

When you visit our website, our server will automatically record your IP address and the time and duration of your visit, including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.  We may obtain additional information about you relating to your demographics and lifestyle interests and be matched to our records to enhance our understanding of the sorts of products and services you may be interested in and to provide you with a more personalised experience.

This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.  For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. They help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service. They enable us:

We expect to retain your data until you cease to be a member or until you unsubscribe from our marketing communications.

By the same token, members continued membership of GIGS: (i) agree to keep personal information in relation to other members, whether acquired via the website, the List of Members, email or by other means, confidential and (ii) undertake to use the same solely in connection with GIGS’s legitimate purposes and activities.  Any person who has legitimate access to private data who is found to use it/have used it for inappropriate purposes not connected with GIGS activities will be ejected from the Society and may face legal action. 
Your rights over your data and queries on how we use your information.  You can always access and amend the personal information we hold on you. It is your right to request a copy of some, or all of this information and you can do so by emailing or writing to us at the address detailed below.
